Yummy Bowl has opened in Fort Wayne! Located on Coliseum Boulevard (and not yet on most GPS services), this restaurant brings with it delicious Mongolian Stir Fry to the city. For me, eating here brought back nostalgia for Flattop Grill, a Fort Wayne staple that closed their doors in 2024. It’s nice to see something similar, and in some ways better, than what was once one of my favorite restaurants. Setting Yummy Bowl apart from past stir fry style restaurants in Fort Wayne were their wide selection of other plates; with sushi and ramen also being sold.
When you enter the restaurant you are seated by a waiter and brought to a numbered table. At your table there will be a bowl and a card that you write your name and table number on and carry with you to a buffet style set up. Here you get all the meats, vegetables, sauces and whatever else you might like and place it in your bowl. You then leave the bowl and card to be cooked and brought out to you in a short while. When I went it was around 8:00 and our food was brought out very quickly after it was taken.
A big part of the fun of Yummy Bowl is the variety of options you have for making your stir fry. They offer both standard meat selections, such as steak and chicken, as well as more uncommon ones like octopus and lamb. You have a lot of control over how your bowl is flavored, with multiple spice shakers and sauces at your disposal. With the sauces there are tasting spoons that are offered so you can try them all and see what you like best. Personally I enjoyed their Vietnam Sauce and I want to find out the secret to the recipe. One of my only complaints is that there weren’t many options for sauces after you order, with only soy sauce being at the table. It would have been nice for there to be some sriracha or fish sauce as well to flavor the bowl even further.
The ramen and sushi are well priced, with the ramen being cheaper than the stir fry despite being a little bit larger. The sushi ran 5-10 dollars for the most standard rolls with the specialty rolls being closer in price to 15. The presentation of these other foods were very well done and they make a lovely option if you aren’t feeling like stir fry.
I had a really great time eating here, and I hope to come back soon. I think I fell in love both with the uniqueness of the dining experience, but also just getting to enjoy some really tasty food. It’s nice to have a restaurant like Yummy Bowl here, and I’d strongly recommend checking it out.
